A while back, 3 individual laboratories performed testing on Thai-Go™ and compared items of interest with other competitive brands. The results were staggering, but not surprising.
* Chromadex Analytics, located in Clearwater, Florida, (since moved to Irvine, CA) is recognized as one of the top testing laboratories in the United States. They tested Nature's Sunshine Thai-Go™ and competitive mangosteen drinks for presence of the alpha-mangostin xanthone. It is one of the two xanthones (the other being gamma-mangostin) that has received the bulk of the attention in terms of health research. It is also one of only a couple of xanthones for which a test procedure is available for this type of testing. In this test, Thai-Go™ was found to have an alpha-mangostin content 35% higher than Xango™. It was also quite a bit higher than MangoXan™. The cheaper mangosteen drinks found in various retail outlets are not even close to these three major ones.
* Brunswick Laboratories, located in Norton, Massachusetts, is the developer and thus the experts of a test known as ORAC. ORAC stands for Oxidative Radical Absorbance Capacity. This is basically an approach to find out the total antioxidant ability of a substance. The results are expressed in Vitamin E equivalents, Vitamin E being a well-known antioxidant. Two parts make up the ORAC test--one is a water-soluble strength, and the other is fat-soluble strength. This is done because some cells are fat-soluble and others are water-soluble. While other laboratories attempt to imitate the test, Brunswick is unquestionably the expert. Brunswick's testing found that Thai-Go™ to have much higher ORAC than either Xango™ or MangoXan™. Again, retail store-type mangosteen drinks do not come close.
More recently, Brunswick Labs started testing Thai-Go for other key measures such as HORAC (measure of antioxidant profile), phenols, xanthones, and bioflavonoids.
* The University of Mississippi has some research scientists that specialize in immune system stimulation testing. This type of testing involves evaluating how substances make certain killer cells in the body find invaders and kill them. The University of Mississippi tested these drinks and found that Thai-Go™ had about 3 times the immune-stimulating power of the next leading drink.
* While this is not a comparison, it is interesting to note that The Ohio State University has a pharmacognosy department that is actively involved in anti-cancer research.
